Cribbage is a game enjoyed by many residents at both Keystone Cedars and Keystone Place so it seemed reasonable to schedule a tournament involving both facilities. If you are interested please make sure you sign up. If you have any questions please feel free to ask an Activities person or someone in the office. Depending on the response this activity will likely be repeated.

January is hobby and creativity month and Keystone has planned some activities accordingly. The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will present “Artful Conversations” hosted by Julia Kottal and Tracy McPartland. The lecture subject will be Marvin Cone, a well known Eastern Iowa artist and contemporary and friend of Grant Wood.

Mark Messner, gourd artist, presents a look at this growing art form. He enjoys researching cultural and decorative imagery along with ancient symbols and patterns, combining them with the primitive feel of a gourd – a natural object. Mark will show his variety of carving techniques, coloring and tricks of the trade.
Mark has been represented in several galleries and enjoys local Fall Art Festival events. He was recently featured in the October issue of City Revealed magazine. This talk will be fun and informative. Come take a look!

The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will present an art workshop as a continuation of the Artful Conversations lecture. Come and join in the opportunity to create your own artwork based on information and inspiration from the lecture.
