NewsMeeting About Additional Veteran’s Benefits – Monday, August 9th
Don Tyne, from the Veteran Affairs will be here in the Cedars Activity Room on Monday, August 9th at 10:00am to talk to Veterans and family members about Service compensation. This is a benefit that a lot of Veterans are missing out on and might find that they are eligible . The monthly benefit ranges from $123.00-$2,823.00 and existing income and assets do not matter. Awards & metals given during Service may result in higher compensation. If you are a Veteran we highly encourage you to come to this meeting and learn more!
Fire Department Visit – Tuesday, August 10th
Please attend the next resident meeting at 1:30 on August 10th! The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be bringing the fire truck and doing a little show & tell and Q&A about fire safety at the resident meeting. Weather permitting we will have the meeting set up outside in the front of the building.
Amana Play “Remain True” – Wednesday, August 11th
Sign up for another great Amana play! This play “Remain True” is a history of Amana during the early days of settlement. Tickets are $10.00, (pay at the door) the bus leaves at 12:00, seating at Amana is 1:00 the show starts at 1:30.
Hiawatha Dance—Thursday, August 26th
Sign up for lunch and dancing at the Hiawatha Community Center. Lunch is followed by a music and dancing.
Total cost is $6.00 for an afternoon of fun! Sign up in the outing book!
Hawaiian Day—Wednesday, August 18th
Come enjoy a fun Hawaiian noon meal on the 27th followed by a Hawaiian themed social hour at 3:30! This is also a dress up day, so get out your grass skirt and Hawaiian get –ups!
Tornado Drill—Tuesday, August 10th
This month’s drill will be a Tornado Drill instead of Fire. The drill will take place at 4:30pm on the 10th. Just like in a fire drill you should leave a pillow or object outside your room when you exit. The designated meeting place for a drill is outside the activity room in the hallway, away from windows.
Fall Festival—Coming Soon! September 30th
The date is set for the Fall Festival soon, September 30th from 10-2! If you have items that you would like do donate for the rummage sale you may start dropping those items off to the activity department. If you are interested in making things to sell, or baking for our bake sale please let the activity department know about that as well. We usually have several vendors/farmer’s market type people come and sell there wares as well. All the money raised will be given to a chosen charity.
Volunteers Needed!
