Keystone Place at Blairs Ferry
On March 1 we will be traveling to the theatrical production of the Cedar Rapids Follies with free tickets. There will be a travel meeting on March 7 to discuss taking some large trips such as going to Europe, Hawaii or Brandson. Additional trips include an overnight trip on March 10-11 to the Chicago Flower Show, a tour of the Victorian Home and Carriage House Museum in Cedar Falls on March 14, and an African Museum trip on March 30.
Lots of water exercise classes, tai chi, and crafts. Cocktail parties every Friday at 4:00. Lunch outing to Cranky Hanks (pizza), Irish Democrat, and Mr. Beans.
Keystone Cedars
On March 1 we will join residents from Keystone Place and attend the theatrical production of the Cedar Rapids Follies. Additional trips include a guided bus ride through historic Usher's Ferry Village on March 7, a casino trip to Tama on March 28 and a trip to the African Museum on March 30.
Residents at both Cedars and Place will be searching for gold coins for St. Patrick's Day. Whoever finds the most coins hidden around the buildings will win a gift card to go out to eat at the restaurant of their choice!
The residents at both buildings are also starting a walking club. They are currently doing a quiz about Iowa, when they complete the quiz they are given a Keystone Pedometer. Staff and residents are participating. All those who get pedometers and start walking can log their miles in the activity room. At the end of the month there will be an awards ceremony for all those who participated. A new goal will be set each month.
The Gardens at Keystone Woods
On March 8 there will be Relaxation with Music with Therapist John Thorpe. Thera-pets visit with dog, cat, birds on March 15 at 10:30 a.m.
Several classes will be offered including "American Colonial History" with Activity Director Harwell on March 6, 13 at 10:30 a.m., "Learning in Later Life History Class" with Dr. Dietrich Schlobohm of Springfield College on March 21, 28, and "Creative Writing" with Professor Julie Schlobohm, Monday afternoons.
Rehearsals for "The Sound of Music" interspersed throughout the month. The performance is scheduled for May 20 at 2 p.m.
Grayson House at Keystone Woods
On March 7 and March 12, we will travel to Smith College to see the annual spring bulb show, displaying the most beautiful colors and aromas you will ever experience! Celebrate St. Patrick's Day! Sandy plays piano for an Irish sing-a-long and homemade Irish soda bread on March 17.
Special Project!!! Residents will be making baby quilts as a community service project on Friday mornings. These quilts will be used with the Thom Springfield Infant Toddler program in welcome baby baskets
