Keystone Place at Blairs Ferry

On July 3 we will be having a cook out at noon in the courtyard, and on the 4th of July there will be an outing to a parade in Belle Plain.  On the July 10 there will be a dance at 6:30 with music by RJ Blue.  There will be day trips to Field of Dreams on the July 18, and Riverside Casino on the July 25.  There will also be an outing to the Ponderosa Dance Hall in Walford, Iowa to a free dance with the Randy Ketelsen Band.  The Cedar Rapids Corvette Club will be bringing some of their cars for showing and riding at out cook out on July 25!

Special Informative Seminars

On Sunday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., we will be presenting seminars on "How to Live Longer, Better and Wiser" and "The Benefits Of Lifestyle Changes and Downsizing After The Age Of 65."

Topics to be covered include:

  • What lifestyle changes you can make to enhance your health and reduce the risk of premature aging

  • The pros and cons to downsizing and the key factors to consider before making a decision

  • What major steps you can take to stay in control of your life as you become older

  • How to evaluate the financial benefits of downsizing

  • How to put pent-up home equity to work for you in increasing your retirement income

  • How to move out of your house without losing the feeling of home;

  • Organize your things to ease any transition,

  • Lighten up your life, feel more in control and have more peace of mind,

  • How to start the downsizing process

  • How living in a retirement community like Keystone Place may be the best solution for staying independent, controlling your cost of living, and enhancing your health status, as you age

Keystone Cedars

We will be having a cook out luncheon on the the 4th of July at 12:00.  On July 7 at 9:00 a.m. we will going on an outing to the large farmer’s market in downtown Cedar Rapids.  We have several new musical entertainers starting this month – country music vocalist Hailey Whitters on July 27 at 1:30, gospel music with Jeff Athey on the July 6 at 1:00 and accordion music with Ronald Johnson at 1:30 on the July 7.  The Marion police department will bring the K9 unit to the residents for an information session on the July 12.  On July 10 at 6:15 we will also be attending the Keystone Place dance with Music by RJ Blue. There will also be an outing to the Ponderosa Dance hall in Walford, Iowa to a free dance with the Randy Ketelsen Band.

The Gardens at Keystone Woods

Summer is here and there are many activities planned throughout the month guaranteed to keep Residents cool and informed. On July 17 award-winning photographer, Les Campbell, will present a “Sky Meadow”, a photographic odyssey, and photojournalist, Roger Hart, will present “Country Fairs” on July 31. Mark your calendar! On July 15 a woman’s health seminar is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. There will be root beer floats available on July 18 at 1:30 a.m. and an ice cream social on July 29 at 2:00 p.m.

Every Monday Residents will have the opportunity to practice their creative writing skills. The history club will meet every Tuesday in the morning to learn about “Exploring Colonial America”. The cookbook committee will meet to share recipes and publish a cookbook for sale filled with “tried and true” recipes collected over the years by Residents.  

Grayson House at Keystone Woods

It's summertime at Grayson House Assisted Living!

We start off with a 4th of July picnic, with entertainment and Fritz the Clown creating his balloon sculptures from 12-2 p.m. Special entertainment throughout the month includes: Tom Bilodeau on the accordion on July 6, Norma on the piano, sing-a-long on July 13, The Harmonicats on July 24 and Glen Sweeney singing Frank Sinatra on July 29.

There will be a country ride to Quabbin Reservoir on the July 23, a trip not to be missed in this beautiful season. We will be going on a cruise aboard "The Lady Bea" on the Connecticut River for a 2 hour narrated historical tour of the River. A favorite of all Residents will be making smore's over the hibachi in the court yard the evening of July 25, with Life Enrichment Leader, Pat leading on guitar, with a sing-a-long!
