Hubbard Place Independent Living at Keystone Commons

Fitness:

Throughout the month, Hubbard Place is offering the following activities: Chair Yoga weekly; Weight Training and Fitness weekly with a certified instructor from The Boys and Girls Club; weight room available 24hrs/day for workouts; Chair Exercise with stretching, balance and deep breathing twice a week; Walking Club once a week with occasional trips to nature pathways; and Swimming and Water Aerobics at The Boys and Girls Club once a week.

Services:

Foot Care Clinic services once-a-month by the Ludlow Dept of Public Health Nurse; grocery shopping and errands provided once-a-week; and transportation to medical appointments two days out of the week.

Clubs & Social Events:

Book Club meets once a month to discuss the current read; Women's Club meeting once a month; Men's Club meeting once a month; Resident Council meets once a month; Travel Club views videos on various places regularly; Documentary showings regularly; Saturday Night at the Movies (with fresh popcorn!) every Saturday evening—new releases and classics; Coffee Clatch and Afternoon Tea twice a month; Happy Hour in the Pub once a month; Knitting & Crochet groups twice a month; Garden Club meets twice a month; “Paint Like the Masters” class offered once a month by a professional art therapist and educator; and Almost Martha meets twice a month for various baking and sewing activities.

Games:

Pitch and Bridge Club meets twice a month; Canasta, Cribbage, Dominoes, Rummikub, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Musical Bingo, Pinochle, Kings in the Corner, Bunco, Backgammon, and Uno offered at various times throughout the month; Billiards available anytime; Bingo once a week; and game show DVD games like “The Price is Right” and “Family Feud” regularly.

Religious Activities:

Weekly transportation to 3 local churches every Sunday; Communion once a week with Deacon Bob from St. Mary’s once a week; and Rosary weekly.

Stonybrook Assisted Living at Keystone Commons

Fitness:

Resident Council meets once a month; Travel videos on various places regularly; Night at the Movies (with fresh popcorn!) twice a week—new releases and classics; Manicures offered weekly; Sing-along weekly; Gardening once a month; Baking Club once a week; Coffee Socials once a week; “Paint Like the Masters” class offered once a month by a professional art therapist and educator.

Games:

Yahtzee, Musical Bingo, Kings in the Corner, and Uno offered at various times throughout the month; Billiards available anytime; Bingo offered three times a week; Crossword Puzzle Challenge once a week; Indoor Bowling, Golf, and Horseshoe games regularly; Name That Tune and Trivia regularly; Joker-eno played weekly; and game show DVD games like “The Price is Right” and “Family Feud” regularly.

July 8 - We will be having a special memory care family dinner.

July 9 - Residents will be touring the Cedar Rapids Grand Masonic Lodge.

July 24 - Movie Theatre Outing to see Mama Mia.

July 30 - Going to lunch at Inge Schminke's where we will have an authenitic austrian meal followed by a talk about her life in Europe during the war on the 28th, Riverside Casino.

Lots of music, games, bus rides and shopping outings all month!

Keystone Place at Blairs Ferry

July 2 - We will be having a 4th of July cook out at 12:00pm. Residents are able to select their cut of meat that they would like to have grilled & there will be music with the Keystone Hayseeds (Gary Bunce & Dennis Hite).

July 9 - Residents will be touring the Cedar Rapids Grand Masonic Lodge.

July 16 - Trip to Riverside Casino. Outdoor concert with Bare Foot Becky.

July 20 - Going to Old Creamery Theatre in Amana.

July 23 - Shopping @ Tanger Outlet mall.

July 24 - Movie Theatre Outing to see Mama Mia.

July 28 - Going to lunch at Inge Schminke's where we will have an authentic Austrian meal followed by a talk about her life in Europe during the war.

July 30 - Trip to Riverside Casino.

July 4 - 4th of July picnic - all of the trimmings and great entertainment.

July 8 - REIKI treatments begin 6:30 pm - individual appointments arranged.

July 9 - "Make Your Own Herbal Tea Bags" with Herbalist Donna Warren, using her fresh herbs.

July 10 - 'Dave Colucci Cruise & dinner out; an evening sail on the Connecticut River.

July 11 - 10am Showing of "An Inconvenient Truth" & celebration of U.N. World Population Day.

July 11 - 'This and That", poetic interpretations with actor Steve Collins, 6:30pm.

July 15 - Professor Reginald Jackson discusses life in Cuba, Brazil & Ghana. Shares his experiences with slides.

July 16 - "Jamaica Night" -celebrating Jamaica with food, dance & drink.

July 22 - Roger Hart photojournalist presents narrated slides, the beauty of nature in new England at 7:30pm.

July 26 - The TARGET marching band comes to perform for us in front of the Gardens bldg.

July 27 - Trip to "Campfire Under the Stars" at the Springfield planetarium.

Special Theme Week:

July 28 - Camp Keystone starts with a recreation of fun camp experiences. Camp Sing Along at 1:30pm in lobby.

July 29 - Crafts at 9:30am. 'Build your Own Sandwich" lunch at 11:30am.

July 30 - Camp Keystone goes to the "Butterfly Museum' with lunch, a trip to Mt. Sugarloaf, and then soft serve on the way home. Camp songs around the campfire at 6:30pm with SMORES & entertainer Tom Bilodeau.

July 31 - "Show n' Tell" at 1:30pm. Camp exercise at 3:30pm.
August 1 - Charades & skits to close "Camp Keystone".

Fitness:
Gentle Tai Chi every Monday, Chair exercise with meditation every Thursday. Weight Room training every Friday. Walking Club weekly.

Religion:
Mass once a month. Ecumenical Service with Rev. Charles Summers. Bible study & Communion once a month. Rosary every Wednesday. Pastor Greg Dyson gives Bible interpretations with mini-sermons & fellowship once a month. Don Golden shares his experiences in converting from Judaism to Christianity on July 31st at 6:30pm. There is transportation to religious services every Sunday.

Classes:
American Colonial History, Poetry & Literature Class weekly; Book of the Month Club, Nature Club. Cookbook Committee meets weekly to prepare for publication of Keystone cookbook fundraiser for the Garden Belles Women's Club.

Games:
On-going Bridge Marathon. BINGO three times a week. Mah Jongg, Dominoes, Cribbage, card games, and TRIVIA weekly.

Services:

Monthly Avada Hearling testing, Pedicures, and OnSight Optical Services.

Other Activities:
Shopping trip to TJMAXX & lunch out; Gardening; special weekend videos (shows & travelogues); Current Events bi-weekly; Resident Council monthly with Executive Director; Men's & Women's Club meet monthly; and grocery shopping service weekly
