Hubbard Place Independent Living at Keystone Commons

Fitness
Throughout the month, Hubbard Place is offering the following activities: Chair Yoga weekly; Weight Training and Fitness weekly with a certified instructor from The Boys and Girls Club; weight room available 24hrs/day for workouts; Chair Exercise with stretching, balance and deep breathing twice a week; Walking Club twice a week with occasional trips to nature pathways; and Swimming and Water Aerobics at The Boys and Girls Club once a week.

Services
Foot Care Clinic services once-a-month by the Ludlow Dept of Public Health Nurse; Hearing Clinic once a month by Avada Hearing Care; grocery shopping and errands provided once-a-week; and transportation to medical appointments two days out of the week.

Clubs & Social Events
Book Club meets once a month to discuss the current read; Women's Club meeting once a month; Men's Club meeting once a month; Resident Council meets once a month; Travel Club views videos on various places regularly; Documentary showings regularly; Saturday Night at the Movies (with fresh popcorn!) every Saturday evening—new releases and classics; Coffee Clatch and Afternoon Tea twice a month; Happy Hour in the Pub once a month; Knitting & Crochet groups twice a month; Garden Club meets twice a month; “Paint Like the Masters” class offered once a month by a professional art therapist and educator; Jewelry classes by a local instructor once a month; and Almost Martha meets twice a month for various baking and sewing activities.

Games
Pitch and Bridge Club meets twice a month; Canasta, Cribbage, Dominoes, Rummikub, Trivial Pursuit, Yahtzee, Musical Bingo, Pinochle, Kings in the Corner, Bunco, Backgammon, and Uno offered at various times throughout the month; Billiards available anytime; Bingo once a week; and game show DVD games like “The Price is Right” and “Family Feud” regularly.

Religious Activities
Weekly transportation to 3 local churches every Sunday; Communion once a week with Deacon Bob from St. Mary’s once a week; in-house Mass once a month with Fr. John from St. Mary’s; and Rosary weekly.

Yahtzee, Musical Bingo, Kings in the Corner, and Uno offered at various times throughout the month; Billiards available anytime; Bingo offered three times a week; Crossword Puzzle Challenge once a week; Indoor Bowling, Golf, and Horseshoe games regularly; Name That Tune and Trivia regularly; Joker-eno played weekly; and game show DVD games like “The Price is Right” and “Family Feud” regularly.

The Gardens at Keystone Woods

Fitness
We have a walking club every Tuesday at 9am. There are chair exercise & stretching offered twice a week. We also have weight training every Friday with a fitness instructor.

Services
We offer Avada free hearing tests once a month. There are footcare services on-sight optical services once a month. We provide transportation to Doctor appointments two days a week. There is a Resident Council once a month. There are Reiki treatments available twice a month.

Creative & Social Events
Book of the month club, 1x/mo; Poetry & Literature, 2x/mo; Current Events, 2x/mo; History Club, 1x/wk, currently studying the American Revolution; Weekly grocery shopping to two local stores (every Monday morning); Gardens Men's Club meet every Friday for socialization and fund-raising activities & trip outs; Garden Belle's Women's Club meet monthly for fund-raising and socialization; Cookbook Committee - Currently selling advertising for Keystone Cookbook to be on sale in the late fall as a fund-raiser for Springfield's "Open Pantry", an organization that provides food and clothing to homeless individuals; Gardening 1x/wk and on volunteer basis; Baking 2x/mo, brownies & choc. chop cookies; Coffee Hours every Saturday a.m. with different food choice each time, 8:30 - 10:30am.

Games & Entertainment
Bingo, 3 nights per week; Mah Jongg every Tues. nite; Cribbage every Wed. nite; Trivial Pursuit 1x/wk; Bridge Marathon, on-going as scheduled. Films & videos: include: "Last Shangri-La", "Red Skelton Show", "Power by Victor", "Biblical Angels", 'Satchmo", "Life in New England at Sturbridge Village", "Walter Cronkite 20th Cent", "Travelogue to Paris", "Count Basie Legacy", "Nature's Symphony".

Religious Activities
Mass, 1x/mo; Ecumenical Service with communion 1X/mo; Prot. Bible study and sharing with Pastor Greg Dyson, 1x/mo; transportation to local churches every Sunday.

August 6 - 'Mystery" trip ( this time to a country farm for homemade ice-cream ) 1:30pm.

August 6 - "Old Tyme Favorites" with Melissa & Larry at 6:30pm.

August 13 - Garden Belles Women's club summer social at 1:30pm. Lemonade & cookies and introductions for new residents.

August 15 - Happy Hour with Paul Kulas, saxophone artist at 6:30pm.

August 20 - Lunch out to Portuguese restaurant called "Tony & Penny's" at 12 noon.

August 22 - American Talent show at 6:30pm. Skits and presentations by residents & staff.

August 23 - Custom Fit Bras - free measurement/fittings: residents may purchase day of fitting, at 1:30pm.

August 24 - Make your own Sundaes.

August 26 - "Make Your Own Jewelry" with Sandy Merrill using beautiful beads and crystals at 2pm.

August 29 - Tom Bilodeau, once man band, swing time favorites at 2pm.

Keystone Cedars

August 5 - We will be having a visit from Thunder the mini pony.
August 5 & 6 - We will be having a AARP Driver Safety Course for both Cedars and Place residents. They will be learning about how to improve their driving skills as well as many other driving tips.
August 9 - We will be having a puppet show by the Oakland Church children’s group.
August 13 - We will be having a picnic lunch at Noelridge Park.
August 19 - We will be having a Mini Olympics! Residents will compete in several different events, have an oriental meal at noon and will also have a closing ceremony & awards ceremony in the afternoon with a cocktail party!
August 21 - Hawaiian day! Residents will enjoy a Hawaiian meal as well as beach Music by the Keystone Hayseeds & a tropical cocktail party.
Residents can also expect lots of shopping trips, games, exercise classes, bus rides, casino trips, music and more!
Keystone Place at Blairs Ferry
August 2 - Residents will be going to Riverside Casino on the 2nd and 27th.

August 12 - We will be taking a trip to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

August 25 - Residents will be taking a tour of a 1917 farm house, they will enjoy homemade deserts, tea & coffee as they are given a tour and talk about the house.

August 27 - Residents will be going to Riverside Casino..
August 29 - Residents will enjoy a night out at the ball park when they go see the Cedar Rapids Kerenels baseball game.
Residents can also expect lots of shopping trips, games, exercise classes, bus rides, casino trips, music and more!
