99th Birthday Wish: Harley Style
April 2011, Keystone (Our House) in Baraboo, WI,

- Cheryl Timeus (the community director) met with the family of one of her resident’s, Edith Ulrich. Edith’s 99th birthday was coming up on April 11th and Cheryl wanted to make it a special one. So Cheryl asked the family and Edith, what is one wish you have that you have always thought about but never got? The answer from Edith was ” I would love to ride in the sidecar of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle”.
Soon after the conversation, Cheryl went to the local Haley shop in Baraboo and spoke with a red haired gal by the name of Pam and told her of Edith’s wish. Pam’s instant reply was “wish granted”! Monday, April 11th at 12:30pm, Ms Edith climbed into the sidecar of a Harley Davidson; keep in mind she is only 99 years young, with a leather jacket, goggles and a helmet ready to hit the road. The Baraboo Chief of Police escorted the riders out of town with the crowd looking on. Her request was that the ride be long and fast!!! Edith was gone for 2 hours before returning to the house to gather with her large family and friends to enjoy cake and ice cream and can you believe the cake even had a motorcycle on it!
Thank you Cheryl, Sandy Socha, Joni Spawn and all the wonderful staff at the Baraboo location for making a wish come true for Ms. Ulrich. The family was so proud of the staff and they were especially happy to see that all of the staff dressed for the occasion, in Harley gear. This is a front page of the local newspaper event! It goes to show that no matter how busy we are in our daily routine we always have time for our residents. Please take the time to thank this awesome team.
